Ascent XD12 USB Solar Charger

This depends on the device and the sunlight conditions. Assuming the panel is placed in strong, direct sunlight, the Ascent XD12 will output its maximum power. For best charging results, use your device’s original cable or a certified third-party cable.
The Ascent XD12 is designed to power smartphones, tablets, action cameras, GPS devices, or other 5V USB-enabled devices.
The Ascent XD12 has a 5 Volt, 2.0 Amp USB Type-A output port. For best charging results, use your device’s original cable or a certified third-party cable.
The Ascent XD12 is weather resistant, so long as the output port or cable connection stays dry and is not submerged in water. If exposed to water, immediately shake or blow water from the output port. Please ensure that the device you are charging is protected from the conditions if your device is not weather resistant.
No. To keep this USB solar charger as light as possible, the Ascent XD12 by itself does not store power. The panel can charge a USB device directly from the sun, or the power can be stored within a portable battery to then use when the sun is not available.
The Ascent XD12 is designed with a smart USB output port, meaning that it determines the maximum power the device is able to receive, and ensures the best possible charging performance directly from the sun.

Ascent XD48 USB Solar Charger

This depends on the device and the sunlight conditions. Assuming the panel is placed in strong, direct sunlight, the Ascent XD48 will output its maximum power.
Yes, you can trickle charge a 12V car battery with the use of a charge controller. Adapter and charge controller not included.
The Ascent XD48 is designed to power the EnerPlex Generatr series of large-format batteries or other comparable battery products with similar power requirements. You can power other devices with the use of a charge controller or power regulator. Charge controller or power regulator not included.
Our standard 2 meter Micro-Con-X® to 7.4 x 5.0mm Dell connector cable is provided.
This product was designed to be rugged! The Ascent XD48 is very weather resistant and can be used in rain or snow. However, please ensure that the device you are charging is protected from the conditions if said device is not weather resistant.
No. The Ascent XD48 by itself does not store power. The panel must be set up to provide power to a battery, such as the Generatr 1200 and 100..

General Questions

Ascent Solar develops and manufactures CIGS (Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide) photovoltaic technology on a flexible, plastic substrate using monolithic integration.
Monolithic integration provides multiple paths for current to flow around damage or shaded areas while continuing to operate. Our monolithic integration provides two unique advantages over other solar technologies. First, it allows the voltage to be easily customized for specialty applications like CubeSats. Second, it creates exceptional durability and prevents the catastrophic failure seen in cheaper solar technologies. It’s truly shatterproof.
CIGS stands for Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide. These are the four elements deposited onto our flexible, plastic substrate to convert sunlight into electric power.
Our flexible, thin-film CIGS technology is 0.052 mm thick. To put that in perspective, the average human hair is 0.075 mm thick; our CIGS is thinner than the average human hair!
Superlight CIGS technology is our lightest weight construction. Its minimalist design is best for integrating directly into UAVs, drones, and other Space and Aerospace applications. Extreme CIGS technology is our most durable construction. Although durable, it is still lightweight and flexible compared to other technologies, making it perfect for portable use within government, public sector, and consumer & OEM markets. Both incorporate monolithic, which can allow current to flow around some damage for uninterrupted power generation until units are replaced.
We use a patented 3-step manufacturing process , which is designed to ensure that our products function at the highest levels in remote locations and extreme environments. You can read more about our manufacturing process, here.
