Laser Scribe Process Engineer


Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. is a developer of thin-film photovoltaic modules with substrate materials that can be more flexible and affordable than most traditional solar panels. We are looking for a qualified Laser Scribe Process Engineer to join our world manufacturing headquarters located in Thornton, Colorado.

Primary job responsibility will be to maintain and improve the Laser Scribe Process Areas. You will be partnering with Product Development ,Engineers, Scientists and Manufacturing to develop design improvements, process improvements, equipment monitoring schemes, metrology, and/ or tool modifications to reduce process variability. Additional responsibilities will be to provide sustaining coverage for manufacturing issues by responding to multifaceted down tool issues and drive developing repair plans.

Responsibilities:


• Own the responsibility of laser operations and preventive maintenance to meet or exceed goals such as uptime, Takt time, process capability, yield, and module performance.
• Use proven problem solving skills to perform ongoing analysis to improve the current process and tool conditions.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities working with cross-functional teams.
• Organize and lead large improvement projects.
• Drive a culture of accountability and data-driven decision making.
• Work with the Environmental Health and Services personnel to ensure all standards are met in respect to laser equipment.
• Ensure validation of test results by troubleshooting and eliminating down time on process tools.
• Work independently as well as in a team environment.

Requirements:


• B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required. Master would be a plus.
• Must have 5 to 7 years of Electrical or Mechanical experience. Experience with UV curing, Laser Scribing or Screen Print Ink equipment or processes preferred.
• Electrical or Mechanical aptitude.
• In depth knowledge of solid state technology lasers.
• Be able to lead a team of diverse engineers through equipment, process, and manufacturing improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail a MUST.
• Experience with photonic and electronic devices necessary.
• Experience with laser scribing and ability to adapt to fast changing production environment.
• Knowledge of statistical tools as well as basic statistics. DOE, SPC, JMP experience a plus.
• Knowledge of solar cell or semiconductor theory helpful.
• Experience in a volume production environment.
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
