Matthew
Foster, President & CEO: From 1999 until
2001, and from March 2004 until Ascent Solar’s
formation in October 2005, Mr. Foster served as Executive
Vice President of ITN Energy Systems, Inc., where
he developed and implemented plans to commercialize
other ITN technologies such as thin-film battery
systems, which developed into Infinite Power Solutions,
Inc., an ITN spin-off, and micro-satellites, which
developed into MicroSat Systems, Inc., another ITN
spin-off. From
January 2001 until March 2004, he served as President
and Chief Executive Officer of Infinite Power Solutions. Mr.
Foster has over 25 years of experience in the aerospace
industry and previously served as Vice President
of Business Development and Advanced Programs at
the Lockheed Martin Corporation. Mr. Foster holds
a B.S. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Joseph Armstrong, Ph.D., Vice President & Chief
Technology Officer: Dr. Armstrong
served as the Manager of ITN’s Advanced Photovoltaic
Division from 1995 until joining Ascent Solar in
October 2005. While at ITN, Dr. Armstrong led
its advancement into thin-film CIGS flexible Photovoltaic
products. Prior to joining ITN, Dr. Armstrong was
employed for 10 years by Martin Marietta Corporation
(now Lockheed Martin), where he managed Photovoltaic
research projects. He is a named inventor on
four U.S. patents in areas including shape memory
alloys, thin-film PV technology and electronic circuit
assembly. Dr. Armstrong holds a B.S. degree
in Physics from Lewis University in Illinois and
a M.S. degree and Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from
the University of Denver.
Janet Casteel, Chief Accounting Officer &
Treasurer: Prior
to joining Ascent Solar in October 2005, Ms. Casteel
served as the Controller and Business Operations Manager
of ITN for over nine years. At ITN, she supervised
the financial and accounting staffs and was responsible
for negotiation and administration of ITN’s government
and commercial contracts, as well as its agreements
with subcontractors. She is a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a
CPA (inactive) in Colorado. Ms. Casteel holds an Associate
Degree in Business Administration from Nebraska College
of Business and a B.S. degree in Accounting from Metropolitan
State College in Denver.
R. Scott Burrows, Corporate Secretary: Since
1988, Mr. Burrows has been an officer and director
of Renaissance Homes of Colorado, Inc., a builder of
custom and semi-custom homes in and around Denver,
Colorado. Since 1985, he also worked independently
as a tax consultant and financial planning specialist.
Mr. Burrows is a CPA in both California and Colorado. Mr.
Burrows holds a B.S. degree from the University of
Colorado and a M.B.A. from San Diego State University.
